How to keep your balayage looking fresh between visits

One of the joys of balayage is that it grows out softly, with no harsh regrowth line. With the right care at home it stays bright and glossy for months.

Wash in cool water, with colour-safe products

Hot water opens the cuticle and lets colour fade faster. Rinse cooler, choose a sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo, and leave a day or two between washes where you can.

Keep brassiness away

Lightened hair can turn warm or yellow over time, with heat, sun and hard water. Rather than toning at home, we refresh the tone in the salon with a gloss, so blondes and caramels stay clean and even.

Respect heat and sun

Heat tools and summer sun both fade colour and dry the ends. Use a heat protector every time you style, and a hat or a UV hair spray on holiday.

Treat lightened lengths

Lightened hair needs extra strength and moisture. A weekly mask keeps it soft and helps it hold its shine.

Book a gloss between colours

A gloss or toner between full appointments refreshes the tone and adds shine in a short visit. Most clients come back for a full balayage every few months, depending on how softly they like it to grow out. We'll suggest a rhythm that suits your colour and your hair.
